It was a slow month for the Studio but we made it down for
Artscape 2006, whereupon speaking to friends and artists, Artscape 2006
may have been one of the worst in recent memory. Maybe it was
Kim Domanski, the Mayor, ZAPPLICATION.ORG, NAIA, WESTAF or any
combination thereof, the only thing they can't deny is how bad
Artscape 2006 really was! It will probably be worst next year
with the same crew of people trying to organize something that is
way beyond their capacity and more importantly, their
understanding. The Artists' Market was OK, some exhibitor
seemed to have ripped off the Artguy but what the heck, it's ok,
they probably still DIDN'T sell anything AGAIN and won 'Best of
Show'. The Fine Arts displays were in one word, 'the most
awful year of repeatedly mediocre works that did not make sense',
but if it did, we would have known there was a change at the
top! And then there was the Art Cars scam by Artscape
organizers, this one made to the CityPaper, with friends of the
Artguy even mentioning it. Besides all this, they'll try to
blame it all on the weather, but it's rained on many Artscape's in
Baltimore, we will see...
The Artguy does not recommend applying to next years Artscape or
any Artscape until there is change, for now there are many
alternatives popping up everywhere. Who'd thought, that this
years Artscape may have started a whole new Anti-Artscape sentiment
by so many artists in the city I love, Baltimore.

Artsy Fartsy Featuring the Satirical Art of Tony
"baloney" Juliano from New Haven, Connecticut.
Award winning satirist artist, Tony "Baloney" Juliano is not
your normal painter. With his wacky, single, panel, lush comic like
paintings dealing with quick puns, whimsical sayings, ironic
sadness, and his penchant for parodying other famous artists, Tony
makes art laughable in colorful complimentary painted frames.
Tony is a graduate from Paier College of Art with a BFA in
Illustration and has been a successful free-lance artist since 1997
to the present.
Tony's resume includes commissioned murals, comics,
illustrations, photography, art lessons, tattoo designs, and album
covers.
Tony also sells his artwork as magnets, matted prints, and his
new comic book, Funky Garbage at a variety of art festivals, comic
cons, on-line, galleries, and stores from California to Rhode
Island.
Tony has had shows all over the US and the UK such as York
Square Gallery, John Slade Ely House, La Viande, The Art Coalition,
CB'?Ts 313 Gallery, MoCCA, DeCordova Museum, Hygienic Art Gallery,
Artescape Studios, Artists Space, Limner Gallery, The Walker and
